This week I designed a courtyard house which I entitled the Alligator House as its roof-line resembles the body of an alligator in the water. Despite its modern lines the house is a basic ranch house with a first floor and a basement. An additional benefit to this design is that it is handicapped accessible; there are no stairs, only ramps in the house. The house has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, a 2 car garage and lots of living space. In addition to the typical rooms, there is a rec room with bar, a study, an indoor swimming pool in the basement, a home gym, and a 4 season porch off the kitchen. The beauty of this design is that all of the rooms are open to each other centered around the courtyard so you have clear sight lines throughout the main floor. The courtyard also gives the illusion of being outside while inside.
